Pros
The team and managers, Astrid and David, were incredible and played a key role in helping me grow into a competent HR professional. The work itself was manageable, and while the phone lines could be busy at times, it helped keep the day moving. Although some tasks were repetitive, there were opportunities to gain experience and explore lateral movement within the organization. The option to work remotely was also a strong benefit, especially after the transition in 2020 when the team remained remote.
Cons
I was interested in advancing within the company and exploring other opportunities in HR, but upward mobility was limited. Only a small number of employees were able to move into higher-level roles. Additionally, there was a high level of turnover during my time there, which impacted team stability. Compensation was also not competitive for the area, particularly as the team transitioned from being based in California to fully remote. It appeared that pay did not keep pace with the cost of living, and some employees took on additional jobs to supplement their income.
