Deceptive pay and untrained staff hinder productivity - Shop Foreman Penske Automotive Group Employee Review

Pros

Fairly busy dealer by today's standards

Cons

Completely deceptive pay. Nearly half of the shop isn't meeting basic productivity metrics and this is hidden during pay discussions. Constant issues due to severely untrained staff and advisors looking for tips. PTO standards are a decade out of date. Most people are doing less than the bare minimum and aren't even basic computer proficient. Techs can abuse substances and it's overlooked if they are productive.

Pros

The staff is very helpful and inviting. There is a healthy amount of foot traffic. The GM is very kind and cares about his employees.

Cons

Not really a con because it comes with the job, but the hours are long. If you don’t sell anything it can be a bit defeating. You also don’t get paid hourly; not sure if this is standard but I was at my lat dealership.

Pros

I do not have any pros for Penske.

Cons

Their HR department does not hold their managers accountable for the abuse they are causing onto their employees. Being told to "remember to clock out" for lunch because we always have to work through our lunches is so small compared to all the other issues that occur in Penske. HR chooses not do anything to help their employees when they report something. They realistically do not care whatsoever that extreme misconduct occurs. They also don't ever care to explain the benefits that may be necessary for work/life stress balance except for one quick second at Power Up. HR does not tell you anything to set you up for success.
