Pros
None. The pay is the only reason why I am still at Dicks. Working here has been very unfulfilling and frustrating. I would advise against it for anyone considering working there after retiring from their career.
Cons
Where do I start? 1. No mentorship by Managers or Team leads. 2. Trading is only CBT based and does not include anything about the company culture. 3. Management is poor and does not talk to you unless you are part of the numerous favored cliques that exist at any given store. They are impervious to receiving any suggestions and always insist that you do things the Dicks way in order to be successful 4. Pay is poor and does not really cover the expenses incurred for commuting and meals unless you pack your own lunch. 5. I feel like I am back in High School Al over again. After 2 months I still do not know the names of over 25 percent of the staff at the store where I work. 6. I have had no real training or experience with using the Personal Electronic Device and have had to manage inventory and location information manually by memorizing where inventory is located in the assorted back and front stock rooms. 7. Each time I come to work o have to spend my first hour cleaning or reorganizing my inventory in both the stockrooms and selling floors. There is little to no accountability by my fellow associates to keep my department stock organized. 8. If you have not picked up on the general them of this rant, I hate my job and have gone from a highly motivated retiree to an angry older man. Management must do a better job of listening to and responding favorable to feedback. I have a 42 year career of professional experience and I find it completely worthless in the greater scheme of things at Dicks. I might as well be a high school graduate; my knowledge and work experience would equally be ignored with far less knowledge that I bring to the table. A real shame and pity.
