Pros

Job security, importance and impacts to the world & national stage, work/life balance, culture still wants to attract people for their entire careers

Cons

Pay is still lower than equivalent industry, but enough to be comfortable and is offset by job security. Still suffers from siloing staff, nebulous advancement tracks, and internal politics. Excessive management bloat over the past couple years.

Pros

Great work life balance. The pay is wonderful, but I also am a remote employee, which the labs are moving away from, or it seems like. The health insurance is also good compared to other places.

Cons

Remote employees don't get the same salary bumps as local employees

Pros

People are so kind and always willing to walk you through anything technical. Depending on your clearance you may or may not be allowed to bring your phone into the building tho!

Cons

Systems Engineering (my task) is a lot more documentation review and management then actual getting your hands dirty (prototyping, testing, etc.) engineering. Not up my alley as much.
