Pros

• Lots of skilled people • Ability to work remotely • Bright future • Some excellent managers • Many work hard to establish and maintain good working atmosphere • Great support staff

Cons

• Toxic environment • No timely orientation to the company and its products • Levels of dysfunction are too high and are cultivated • Don't understand the concept of requirements • Unqualified people in key positions • Micromanagement abounds • Distribution of unsatisfactory equipment • Gross levels of politics • Unqualified managers instigate incivility • Unqualified people are known, but tolerated • Failure to act with appropriate timing when maltreatment occurs • High levels of skill not appreciated by key players • Extreme willingness to infringe on personal time • Poor work-life balance for all • Unnecessarily high stress levels • Depending upon the "whos," expertise may not be appreciated or valued • Agile in word only (i.e., everyone doesn't have an agile mentality) • People willing to sabotage project efforts for personal gain • Slander is the order of the day for some • "Death by meeting" environment (i.e., too many unnecessary meetings)

Pros

Many opportunities to move horizontally or vertically in the company - preference to hire internally. Professional, respectful, yet comfortable company culture. Excellent company benefits. Incredible managers that help you do your best work while keeping a healthy balance. Management proactively invests into your skills/career development. Once you are in, they want to keep you and invest into you, you have job security.

Cons

The work can often be uninteresting or feel disconnected, since you are a small part of a greater whole. Your unit may have a very traditional background and be behind the latest technologies. The salary can stagnate and fall below market rate with longer tenure.
