Pros
I met a lot of great people. I can't think of anything else.
Cons
A lot of the courses during the summer were repetative and unhelpful. The classroom management techniques didn't work with my students, but they were presented in a way that made it seem like this was the only way to manage a class and only this way would work. You're only graded on how you did during your observations. You're graded out of 3 points. You needed a 2.4 to automatically pass the summer, and if you scored between 1.9 and 2.3 they would additionally evaluate you. I was off by a fraction of a point and I didn't pass the summer. I think because I didn't have a job lined up. There were several people in my cohort who scored a 1.9, but got to stay in the program because they had a job lined up. It didn't matter that I went to the school early every day and stayed late sometimes. I also participated in every discussion. There were some teachers that would bribe the kids and the coaches did nothing about it. We also had some instances where the other fellows didn't pull their weight in the classroom and the coaches didn't do anything. I know a few people in my cohort that would have made excellent teachers, but they were cut because they didn't have jobs lined up. Probably about half my cohort dropped out before the end of the program. If a teacher dropped out, then the other teacher(s) in the class had to teach extra hours.
