Pros

Some of the people are really great and the great people end up clinging to each other to make it through. This is one of the only companies in the area that is usually hiring. There has only been one time in my eight years here that my paycheck was late.

Cons

This company is very clique oriented. They seem to value people who spend maybe an hour or two actually working and the rest of the time chatting or playing a sport in the parking lot. There are a lot of hardworking people here and they generally get zero recognition. There aren’t many opportunities to move up here so people are generally juggled between teams when they have reached their breaking point with their current position. They are not introvert friendly and the main “training” advice they tell you is to listen to people talk around you to pick up tips. Problem with that is that people generally don’t narrate what they are doing on their laptop all day so you just hear people talk about shows or sports or something that isn’t work. Another reviewer said that they reimburse training which isn’t true. There have been a couple of people who had college/masters certificates paid for but those people were secretly hand tapped for that opportunity. Again, this place is NOT introvert friendly and a lot of people here do not respect the words no thanks. Be prepared to be called a culture killer for wanting to have headphones in to focus on your work or for not wanting to go on team runs in the morning. Some of us want to show up, do a good job, and go home. That seems to be hard for them to grasp. There are maybe four or five managers that care what their teams are doing and will help when you are struggling under your massive workload. You will be underpaid and tired and your feedback from management will be nonexistent. Good luck getting a review on your work performance to help you improve enough to get a raise! FYI- You have better luck getting a raise if you are male and plays hockey than someone who has good customer reviews.

Pros

Pay has gotten much better and standardized for programming positions within the last few years. Benefits are good, including an ESOP that usually does really well in year-to-year growth. The company has a lot of good things for people who want to make a career there, including a heath center, daycare, and an ESOP that can be a huge chunk of your retirement if you stay for a few years. Other pros include: Good gyms, street hockey, and basketball during breaks Onsite cafe Hybrid WFH rules are generally up to each manager, and many are willing to figure a system that works for both the team and worker. Good location right off I-89

Cons

There was a lot of resistance to modernize both company policies (Only recently did they dilettante between different levels of Software Engineer, post-Covid return-to-office was a huge push until they reversed course) and the tech stack (a majority of the programmers on one half of the company are working in RPG). While there are efforts to modernize their web tech, the distributor side has continued to lag behind industry standards to a worrying degree. Other minor cons include: Cubicles (I did not mind them, but others might)
