Pros
*Free park access and discounted room/food/merch rates are amazing *Some coworkers are genuinely good, friendly, and talented people who aren’t yet bitter or burned out *Interesting and unique projects to work on *Recognizable name on a resume
Cons
*Long hours and unrealistic expectations. Your personal life is expected to be sacrificed “for the park," often via multi-week overnight work or weekends *Passion is exploited rather than rewarded *Extremely slow, bureaucratic decision-making, something small could take months or years to see happen (albeit this is typical of a massively large company) *Very little hands-on engineering. You won’t be building, turning wrenches, or physically troubleshooting *Most work is cubicle-based for engineers. You mainly work on documentation, attend meetings, reviews, and develop processes *Innovation is stifled by layers of required approval *And most importantly, the company values feel performative rather than real If you’re considering this role because you love Disney, I strongly urge you to put a lot of thought into your decision. Loving something doesn’t mean it will love you back.
