Pros

As much as a year ago, the workload was half of what is now. We had enough cashiers. And leads were accessible if we had problems or needed more help cashing people out.

Cons

Today the customer count has just about doubled. New customers expect cashiers to go beyond the usual packing standards to get the order completed. Many customers come up while talking on their phone and ignore cashiers. Rudeness is more pronounced than a year ago. Leads are hard to find when help is needed. Also, hours aren't consistent week to week. Many people on our team are being assigned only 1 or 2 shifts a week, a year ago they had 5 shifts per week. This makes the workload much greater for cashiers on the line.

Pros

Flexible scheduling for students. Competitive pay and benefits compared to many retail jobs.

Cons

Can be very busy and fast-paced, especially on weekends and holidays. Standing for long periods can be physically tiring. Schedules may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Customer-facing roles sometimes involve dealing with upset or impatient customers. During peak hours, the workload can be stressful. Management is very rude and is not very accommodating about personal situations.
