Pros

• Salaried role provided stable base pay around $37k/year, better than prior bartending amid financial struggles. • Remote work-from-home setup offered flexibility for someone balancing fitness and side activities like soccer refereeing.

Cons

• Minimal training should have been more training on practical deal-closing skills, leading to only 2 closes in 3 months despite high pressure. • Harsh attendance enforcement: final warning for getting food from a church during hardship, another for 23-minute Uber delay returning U-Haul (vs. $200 fine), and abrupt termination after 4-minute lunch overrun despite approved break use. • Short breaks (10 minutes morning/evening) with no grace for real-life issues left no room for error, exacerbating financial stress like unpaid bills.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. During our interview process, we go to great lengths to set expectations about what can be expected in the role and what the day-to-day looks like for an Account Executive. We want to make sure that everyone who comes onboard has a solid understanding of the highs and lows a career in sales can bring. It's disappointing to hear that your onboarding experience and the expectations of the role did not align with what you had hoped. Our training programs are designed to provide a strong foundation and teach a variety of new skills to set our teams up for success. With that said, our AE’s are scheduled to work when the majority of our clients are working. Most of our clients are small business owners based in the US or Canada, so it’s best to be available between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. While those hours are pretty standard, AE’s are welcome to take breaks, grab coffee, or take restroom breaks. Our managers may be concerned if hour-long breaks or late arrivals become a pattern, but otherwise, most AE’s find the schedule to work for them. Your feedback is heard, and we'll be sure to share it with our leaders. We're thankful for your time at Yelp and wish you the best of luck in your next role!
