Pros

-Stability, from a company perspective it is stable and not likely to ever move or go under. -Money, they are willing to throw money at problems, it's too bad they never throw the money at the real problems that need it. -Management, they always have an open door policy, it's just a shame they are always in meetings and never around to add valuable input. For as many of them that there are it's amazing, you can't ever find one! -HR, the benefits are reliable, because even as the times change the benefits never do. Don't expect too much here.

Cons

Having worked in this company's IT department for years I found myself at a fork in the road. This company has given me an opportunity to get hands-on with a lot of technology and interact with some great people, but management is not aware of the real issues. IT is a growing industry in Indianapolis and as such if you do not show your employees they are valuable you will loose that resource to another company. So here are my top five IT con with the company: 1. Do More with less- Stop that right now! You want to grow the business drop this 200 employee limit and expand your capabilities by hiring more IT support. Your staff is not just traders and accountants. IT is the foundation of your profits. Without the computers and software, that your other departments use, do you really think they would be as efficient as they are? 2. No employee investment- they do care what it is you want to learn about they only want to send you to training that they think will behoove them and as such, I think they under-appreciate their employees. 3. Too many managers- In a company that wants to do more with less it is crucial that, in IT, you have more employees doing work and fewer managers trying to "steer the ship" if you will. 4. Work Life Balance- because this company wants to grow but doesn't want to hire the IT employees required to grow the existing employees are expected to give up weekends and nights, regularly, to complete the requested workload. 5. Compensation- IT is an ever growing environment in Indianapolis. As such if you do not compete with salaries your turnover will continue to grow.

Avoid IT

Pros

Salary and benefits are good, company events are great and the jobs and business are stable.

Cons

After new leadership in IT we've done nothing but lose people. Politics and paranoia are high. Some teams do regular overtime and weekend work while others are allowed to let projects lapse. Little to no training and development. Key roles aren't being back filled and many others are simply waiting for the timer on their pension to run out.

Thank you for your comments. Competitive pay and benefits, as well as strong work culture, are priorities for us. We appreciate your feedback as we look to continue those things that we do well and improve in areas where there's opportunity.

Pros

Most of the staff are good to work with, benefits are good but have been scaled back recently.

Cons

Was unceremoniously let go out of the blue for the only reason given was CEO wanted to keep the staff level at an arbitrary level, but had to train my replacement up to the point I found I was no longer employed; and I am not the first person this happened to.
