Pros

I absolutely loved the families that I got to work with. I also really enjoyed my Program Managers and other team members (which included Behavioral Treatment Technicians and other Program Assistants)--the management team and superiors are for the most part very nice.

Cons

You have to be overly flexible, when sometimes managers won't always be flexible with you unless you give 2 months notice. For example, depending on the manager you need to have to submit time off a few months ahead of time; however, you may be called the morning of to have add a session into your schedule (which you usually feel obligated to do). Also, the hours are super long and can be exhausting especially when working with this type of population--on paper it doesn't seem long but through the day, considering drive time to each house, the lack of breaks (which are usually spent driving anyway), the type of work you're doing, and the unexpected sessions you might have to take, I'd find myself almost falling asleep at the wheel driving to some clients' homes at the end of the day because I was so exhausted. Pay was not worth the work we were putting in.

Overall good, some improvements should be made

Pros

The structure of work allows for hands-on training, feedback, and supervision. The paid time off is good, and allows for employees to take time off for sickness or personal days, even when they are new to the company. The staff who go into homes are great. They offer suggestions, allow for questions, and are encouraging.

Cons

Some of the families the staff work for are not vetted very well, which can be frustrating for the staff, because they go into the homes. Some houses are approved for therapy, but they are extremely dirty, the family dynamics are tense, bathroom facilities don’t work properly, the neighborhood is not safe, or any other number of factors that make working difficult. Additionally, the HR department is inconsistent with their policies. They allow some employees to make scheduling changes and get promoted, while others are not allowed to. Employees also notify management of problems regarding families, but usually nothing is done. It takes several concerns for HR to make changes, which puts their staff at risk, and has led to a high turnover rate.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We're pleased to know you feel supported and encouraged by your teammates and supervisor as we value training and effective feedback loops within the organization. We also recognize that the needs of our clients and their worksites vary and that certain environments may present challenges. While we have policies and procedures in place to ensure the environments are conducive to effective service delivery, we also work hard to be responsive to individuals so that employees are equipped to do their job well. If you have additional information regarding your concerns or suggestions for improving our approach we encourage you to contact Human Resources at hr@familypathautism.com

Pros

-Great benefits -Guaranteed hours: if families cancel on staff, the staff are provided with other work/trainings to complete and still paid for that time -Working with children and families is fun and rewarding -Supervisors are generally understanding and provide consistent feedback and supervision

Cons

-Limited opportunities to interact with coworkers (Covid has definitely impacted this) -Work schedule can be unpredictable due to cancellations
