Pros

None. There is absolutely nothing positive about G4S. I do not consider this a positive, but it is very easy to get a job here because officers quit every single day.

Cons

Every single thing about G4S is a negative. The pay is barely over minimum wage. Supervisors will purposely try to get to you fired. You will never get a chance to advance because management hires their friends and family for supervisory positions. If you ask for a transfer to another site, you are told that it is not possible. G4S has one of the highest, if not the highest, turnover rate. Most new hires do not stay longer than a year. There is no work-life balance because you are on call 24/7. They expect you to work overtime, but then they cut your hours so you do not get paid for the overtime. They call you on your off days to come in. You cannot join a union to protect yourself from the management, because they will fire you for joining a union. The uniform is awful. It is 100% polyester. I could go on and on about how horrible G4S is. It is truly the worst place I have ever worked. The day I quit was one of the happiest days of my life. I do not list my time at G4S on my resume.

Pros

When there is downtime(usually none per shift aside from breaks), it's nice to take a breather. On the bright side, they will "try" to help you transfer your employment to other cities(if applicable) if you move. I cannot speak for other offices as I dealt primarily with Twins City sites.

Cons

Area supervisors and managers give in to clients demands off the contract thus endangering security officers commitment to other duties as well as health. Once you hit supervisor, you are capped unless you have office politics to get you INTO the hiring office where all the "fat cats" gossip. There is also mandatory overtime if your relief does not show up which is pretty much slavery with a wage. People have a life outside of this dead end job.

Pros

They offer 401K, benefits such as health and dental even though its costly. I pay $50 a month on just medical. You are also part of a Union (however they arent helpful at all against management)

Cons

I am currently disatisfied working for G4S I thought they were a good company but they have shown me discrimination. Me and my coworkers are told to do mandatory overtime with no regard for my time, whats worse is that we are told to show up for additional shifts at a moments notice. However all other officers get to leave after their regular shifts, and it happens with all the hispanic officers. This is the reason why I am leaving. I tried to address the issue and get it resolved buy my superior just disregarded it. NO WORK LIFE BALANCE
