Pros

In my short but brief time with Geodis, the only Pro I can think of is the employee holiday meals.

Cons

-Excessively high monthly health premiums -No tuition reimbursement -Low 401K matching -High turnover in hourly employment (in the facility I was in) -High turnover in mid-level management (in the facility I was in) -Long hours are expected and demanded (not relayed during the interview) -Very poor training for management personal. Basically lacking (to be exact). -Was told not to speak to the customer, in the facility I was in (almost as if I wasn't good enough)

Strong Company in Crumbling Industry

Pros

Because it is owned by a France’s state-owned national railway, the company is not like typical short-term focused American company that lives and dies by the stock price. Excellent global focus on diversity, especially women, and going green. (The CEO is a woman.) Nice variety of business in the US, although there are many overlaps which creates internal competition.

Cons

Very un-inspiring strategy that does not flow down into the ranks. Even with good support globally for diversity, in the US leadership, there is a clear lack of diversity. With the economy downturn, the company is very top heavy and has too many people in positions that add little to no value. Layoffs end up taking out value-adding workers but leaves 100’s of positions that do not support the operations or customers.

Pros

People are friendly (for the most part) Recently remodeled the headquarters and added free snacks, Starbucks and Redbull. Direct leader is extremely caring.

Cons

Performance expectations far exceed job description and pay. Talks about work/life balance but continues to add extra meetings and projects. Senior leadership seems to be more concerned with promoting themselves so they keep volunteering team for more projects in order to stay in the spotlight. Compensation is severely under market. Promotes internally in order to pay colleagues far less than an external hire. Lack of process and procedures. Inconsistent hiring practices Health benefits are expensive and are modeled after benefits from the 90s HR leadership (top-bottom) is comprised of mean girls. Extremely cliquish. Every hiring manager and every location have their own set of rules and processes, there is no unity or alignment Tries to force team member to work in office and then schedules virtual meetings (makes no sense) You are penalized for not “playing the game” and getting involved in all of the extra stuff - events, parties, etc Company promotes development but most leaders do not want to train or develop at all. They expect team members to need no training and stay in the role they were hired into.
