Pros

Free lunch. You can drink alcohol and do drugs and get away with it.

Cons

I have worked in the warehouse building for over 2 years. The warehouse/fulfillment workers are in a separate location from the administration and tech workers. The warehouse workers are treated as unequal and unwelcome to the rest of the company. So much that we are technically employed by a temporary staffing agency, even those hired for full time. We get paid less than minimum wage (technically the warehouse is in Culver City, so although "Los Angeles" is a few blocks away, they get away with paying us at the California state minimum wage instead of the LA minimum wage). They do not offer opportunities for advancement or income growth. Only take this job if you are seeking a temporary, disposable position, because that is how they will treat you. Warehouse Supervisors and Management are a joke and highly unqualified and unskilled at their jobs. The grapevine states that they were hired through personal relationships with the executives, not due to qualifications. Basic benefits are missing for workers in the warehouse (Landmark location). We have no holiday pay or bonuses, which is difficult because they pay us extremely low wages. The health benefits are a complete joke - workers are better off on Medi Cal or Affordable Care Act plans. DISCRIMINATION: Men are entirely more likely to be promoted. When it comes to job positions where women are more qualified and have more experience VS men who have less experience, less seniority, and less qualifications, the men end up getting the job. This is not a one or two time thing, but a constantly occurring issue. Workers are often high and/or drunk. Workers call out and show up late regularly, but management is afraid to enforce any policies. SEXUAL HARASSMENT is a SERIOUS issue here and is not taken seriously. There is no discussion about sexual harassment despite multiple instances of women being physically and verbally assaulted. Every situation is swept under the rug by management. SUMMARY: If you are looking for a minimum wage (CA state minimum wage, not LA city minimum wage), temporary position, and you are a man, this place might be OK for a few months. Otherwise, STAY AWAY.

Fulfillment Associate Review

Pros

Worked there for 6 months and the only pro I can think of is the free lunch they provide. Oh and once a month, they bring a food truck around for more free food.

Cons

The company is split into three different buildings and I worked under the Operations building. The Operations department is an absolute mess. When they say fulfillment associate, they are not kidding. This means they will literally fill you in for any job that needs to be done. So at random times, you may be called to carry heavy boxes, take the trash out, and event assemble desks. I graduated college, but most of the employees under operations have not. Not saying this is bad, but the people you work with talk about smoking weed before work, and they also take the lunch breaks to indulge in more and occasionally alcohol as well. Unfortunately, it's not a motivating environment as most people come to work with bad attitudes. There is also a divide within the employees, as they form a cult-like environment where they talk about the people behind their back. Very high school-like and immature. As far as management goes, they are the ones to blame for this behavior. They always talk about being a family, they call this FTRIP (focus, trust, resiliency, innovation, passion) and it is quite corny. They make promises to most employees about moving up within the company, but a lot of these are unfulfilled. ALL they care about are the numbers. The shoes that come in need to go out daily, so it's always a stressful environment where management constantly breathe down your neck. They do not reinforce any of the "FTRIP" model themselves, but expect the employees to. My biggest problem with this company is the pecking order for moving up. Management plays favorites and they give people they like certain priority over others, rather than looking at talent and qualifications. So if you want to start from the bottom and pack boxes all day, then go right ahead.

Pros

Work life balance (mainly due to lack of work) Nice people unlimited PTO

Cons

My time at GOAT was a step backward in my career. I didn’t learn anything new or develop further even with stretch projects and putting myself outside my scope of work. I was told this was a growing environment with high ownership which was not the case. The company has too many layers of management in place and too many recruiters for the low amount of roles being hired. Mismanaged succession planning. I believe after multiple layoffs they now have a recruiting team of 3. Shady leadership practices and nepotism promotions. Management in place that were not qualified to be “associate director” OR “director” titled folks, at bigger companies they would just be managers. The work didn’t even reflect the promotions or titles. The management was severely lacking as well: no development for their team members, 1:1s where you are barely chatting about your role and it’s more so “friends chatting time”, and no outlines for how you can get promoted. There were several secretive layoffs over the years I was here, creating an environment of distrust and uncertainty. Constant jokes about “hope I don’t get laid off this month”. The bar for talent and performance at the company is surprisingly low, which impacts collaboration and results.
