Pros

Free parking, plenty of learning material and good resume builder if you make it out without burning out.

Cons

Corporate learning is dog eat dog sales pure and simple. They bloat prices and offer random discounts. Recycled content repackaged year after year. Sales uses and ABUSES every other department and management turns a blind eye because yearly bonuses are based off sales numbers. No work life balance and your worth is based on what have you done for me lately mentality. Work 15 hours one day 8 the next and get scolded because you didn't put in extra effort. Incompetent management that have been at the company for years, sharp contrast in tenure you've either been at HBP for 15+ yrs or 2yr. 50% of the company is "contractors" through local staffing agencies so Harvard can escape paying benefits. These contractors have been there for upwards of 5 yrs..

It's disappointing to know that you did not have a positive work-life experience during your tenure as this is not the experience we want for our employees. We are saddened by the fact that you did not feel comfortable sharing your feedback with management or Human Resources during your tenure as we may have been able to address some of the issues had we known about them.

Pros

- Good work life balance - Decent pay - Brand recognition - Free parking

Cons

There is almost no racial diversity at HBP and there also seems to be a lack of diversity in worldview and upbringing. This is something they really need to work on to be competitive and to innovate outside the "ivory tower." Managers talk-the-talk but do not walk-the-walk--relying instead on their teams to do everything and then taking credit for the work. Pretty ironic considering the mission is "to improve the practice of management." Could take some tips from their own content. Management is completely in love with themselves and hold themselves in high regard--need to work on humility in a big way. Purport to be a technology company but the investments don't support that vision.

How Ironic...

Pros

Smart people who care about the practice of management and providing best-in-class content across multiple platforms. Great brand, good benefits, and a shared culture of excellence. Work hard/play hard culture. Good place to build your resume, but limited opportunity to develop.

Cons

How ironic that an organization that exists to provide world class thought leadership is so poorly managed. Senior management is sadly removed from day to day challenges of their teams. Reliance on long-term contract workers and lack of admininstrative support hinders productivity. Little opportunity for growth and development. HR exists soley to hire and fire employees. Clubby senior management team, favoritism culture, and relentless pressure to meet short-term financial goals destructive to the mission of HBR and employee morale.
