Pros

There are so many great things to say about Health Catalyst- I could truly go on all day. The culture and the people are unmatched, not to mention the fact that our product/software is able to positively impact so many people. I have the utmost respect for our CEO and leadership team and they truly do put team members at the center of all of their decisions. The remote work culture is amazing, and the benefits are fantastic. If I had the opportunity to finish out the remainder of my career here (which should be many, many years from now), I would have no hesitations staying here forever. You could not pay me more to move elsewhere because Health Catalyst is just THAT GREAT.

Cons

Given the economic climate, difficult decisions have needed to be made over the past couple of years. With that being said, I have full faith that the CEO and leadership team is doing all that they can to make the best decisions for the individual team members and for the future of the company.

Pros

The people at Health Catalyst are some of the brightest minds you will ever meet. Mid-Tier management is brilliant and knows far more about the company workings than the C-Suite. Individual contributers genuinely care about clients and love what they do. Benefits tend to be decent, though they've taken massive hits in the last year or so

Cons

Upper management is completely out of touch. The move to restructure was hasty and purposefully did not incorporate the insight of actual people managers. There have been an absurd number of layoffs in the past few years. With every passing day, the incredible people who work here are treated more and more like named machines and less and less like people with phenomenal skills. It's sad to see everything go downhill as quickly and as irreparably as they have. People feel trapped here by the current job market. There have been no real raises and constantly decreased opportunities for growth in a career for years. The ship is sinking.

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
