Pros

If I could give 0 stars I would. Even though this company does offer good pay, benefits and flexible hours they don't provide a lot of their benefits until after working there a year and they will lay you off before you get there so they don't have to give you these benefits.

Cons

This company frequently lays off their employees saying they "don't have the funds for the position" so they can hire someone new without having to provide full benefits and more competitive pay for the position. They also do not give severance or notice to the employee when they lay them off leaving them with no money and no insurance.

Pros

The people I worked with directly were the only positive part of the job. My coworkers and immediate manager were supportive, helpful, and genuinely wanted me to succeed. Teams collaborated well and made the workday manageable. Unfortunately, none of that made up for the repeated failures and dishonesty from leadership.

Cons

From day one, leadership misled me: Salary bait-and-switch – I was told I was the ideal candidate for a new position started by the CTO, yet was offered the lowest salary in the range. When I raised that concern, they only moved me to the lowest quartile and refused to go higher despite their earlier promises. Work location changes – My offer letter said I could work from Salt Lake, but once hired they changed it to HQ in Pleasant Grove, forcing a long commute from Sugar House with no additional compensation for the first 6 months. Health insurance mishandling – I was told I could add my fiancée to my insurance at no extra cost, but after they realized they couldn’t do that legally, they backtracked after I had already signed her up. I was forced to pay over $500 extra per paycheck. My only “solution” was to get legally married 6 months before my wedding rather than them admitting their mistake and covering the cost. Job elimination after my honeymoon – With no warning, the day I returned from my honeymoon I was told my Business Development role no longer existed. I was informed it was certainly not because of performance. They offered me a technical GIS role I wasn’t qualified for, which was essentially a way to push me out. The CTO created the role I was hired into, but within a year, likely under pressure from private equity ownership, decided to cut it entirely. I was left with no choice but to leave. On top of all this, the CTO never once reached out to explain his reasoning or show any accountability. The entire experience was unstable, disrespectful, and showed that leadership had no clear vision for the role or the people in it.

We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your time at Horrocks left you feeling disappointed and disrespected. Reading your review was difficult, because it's clear that we let you down in several important ways—and for that, we sincerely apologize. We understand how devastating it must have been to return from your honeymoon and face an unexpected job loss, especially after receiving strong performance reviews. That’s not the experience we want anyone to have here. We also hear your concerns about unclear communication around your role, compensation, benefits, and relocation. No one should feel misled or unsupported—especially during major life events. Your feedback is a powerful reminder of the responsibility we have to treat every team member with honesty, consistency, and respect. While we can't undo your experience, we are committed to learning from it. We’re actively reviewing our hiring, onboarding, and internal communication processes to ensure we do better going forward. Thank you for your courage in sharing your story. We truly wish you all the best in your career and personal life, and we hope you’ve since found a place where you feel valued and respected.

Pros

Horrocks has a great system of payment for overtime.

Cons

Within the Public Involvement team, there were a lot of politics and drama. Favoritism existed between management and one of the team members who didn't get along with any other team members. Hiring of family and close friends without qualification occurred. Trying to voice your opinion only made it worse. I would be weary to join the Public Involvement team.
