Pros

You will get to work on really interesting projects that are cutting edge in the industry. It’s a great place to get a career started and learn a lot. Coworkers are friendly and helpful.

Cons

Senior leadership knows that they pay less than industry average. They do not care. There are so many things they know they can do to increase employee morale (letting people work remotely, giving Presidents’ Day/MLK day off, paying industry standard salaries, actually throwing their employees a Christmas party to celebrate their hard work - and, no, a town hall where we watch leadership talk about how great they are does not count) and they will never do it. Perhaps it’s because of Invenergy’s private equity overlords at Blackstone, or perhaps it’s because Polsky will hold on to antiquated styles of work until he retires, but employees are unhappy. Leadership knows this, but they will not act on it. Work life balance is team dependent, some people leave at 4:30 while others are stuck at their desk late into the night. Many team social events revolve around drinking.

Pros

Competent teammates and good working / social relationships with colleagues Cool projects and it feels like you get new opportunities/ experiences often

Cons

Out of touch CEO (maybe entire executive team but it’s most obvious for the CEO) that doesn’t realize the negative impact they are having on employee morale Feels like they are making less of an effort to improve culture than they were 5+ years ago

Pros

You get to work with a great group of intelligent people.

Cons

The vast majority of upper management are white men over 50. This lack of diverse backgrounds promotes a good old boys club culture. While the company likes to promote its DEI efforts, they are not a priority, and there is no culture of DEI within the company. This has driven decisions such as the return to a full time in the office schedule. No consideration was given to the impact this would have on working parents, neurodivergent employees, and non-white employees, all of whom benefit greatly from hybrid work schedules. This decision makes sense, given that it was made by older white men. Overall, there needs to be more consideration for employees at the company, as upper management does not seem to care about its greatest asset.
