Pros

Kind coworkers who do their absolute best with the dysfunctional behavior from management. Great location in Walnut Creek by tons of restaurants.

Cons

The onboarding and offboarding experience is hectic. There are virtual assistants from foreign countries that are working long hours for little pay to assist staff. Long hours, constant negative remarks, scolding when asking for assistance or clear directions The pay structure is a disaster and you will not gross 75k unless the company does well, but business is slow Encouraged to drink each day and provided alcohol by management (might be a pro depending on your interests). This goes along with a rampant frat culture.

JVM Lending Response

Thank you for taking the time to post this review. We take workplace culture very seriously at JVM, so reviews of this nature are disconcerting, to say the least, and wake-up calls as well. Thank you too for illuminating the “pros,” as we do our very best to hire kind people in an effort to maintain our exceptionally strong culture. We also agree that our location is a huge plus as well. With respect to our onboarding process, this is something we have been cultivating for years to ensure everyone feels very welcome and 100% ready to hit the ground running. I know, however, that on occasion when we are rushing a new team member into a new training class, things can seem hectic and we will work on this for sure. The same can be said for our offboarding procedures too. Ironically, we are somewhat renowned in our industry for our exceptionally elaborate onboarding processes and desire to make new team members feel welcome. So, this type of criticism is something we take very seriously. With respect to our virtual assistant team, we actually pay them above-market wages and that too is something we take much pride in. We also offer incentives and bonuses that most firms employing virtual assistants in our industry do not offer. In addition, the virtual assistants are being trained to provide constant assistance for our domestic team to ensure that long hours are not required – in an effort to foster better work-life balances for everyone. And finally, we do not require our virtual assistants to work long hours, as they average 40 to 45 hours per week at most. With respect to compensation, this too is something we take very seriously as a matter of integrity. We have never had a team member in the Mortgage Analyst role not make at least $75,000 in their first year, and they often make much more. In regard to the need for more clarity or less confusion, your message is received and we will work on that for sure. With respect to the team engagement and recreational activities, our intent is to have fun but to never put pressure on anyone to have to participate if they do not wish to. So, this is another message that is well received, as we will make certain that nobody feels pressured to participate in the future. With respect to management, I am extremely sorry that you felt that way and had no idea that you did. Our management team has already met to discuss this perception and to ensure that nobody else feels this way in the future. We also have a very broad open-door policy at JVM, and we continue to encourage everyone to discuss such concerns with the management team directly at any time. With respect to diversity, our hiring policy is very broad and open, and we encourage any and all qualified applicants to apply. We are nonetheless aggressively working on this as well. I would love the opportunity to discuss these cons and any other concerns you may have had while you were employed with us. As mentioned before, your feedback is illuminating and is something we’re taking very seriously. And finally, I strongly encourage every potential applicant who is reading this review to feel free to discuss this directly with me, our recruiter or anyone on our management team. We are very “open book” at JVM and are happy to discuss all aspects of our business, both the good and the bad. Jay Voorhees Owner and Founder
