I made at least $5k less than someone with same education and experience. Then they told me talking about salary was not okay I often felt as if the children were not at the center of decisions made by higher ups. I worked too hard to get my license to risk it for this agency. I had a huge caseload and felt I had no support as a first time caseworker. I would work way over 40 hours every week. I’d work closer to 60-80 hours and they don’t pay overtime, and they just started paying on call workers for the extra work they have to do. Case aides in our region were almost non-existent so I had to do the job of 2 caseworkers and a case aide for the pay of one caseworker. Not even 24 hours into my vacation they called me on my personal phone and made me call one of my families even though I was on vacation and should not have been working.
