Pros

The Cannabis industry means that as a company LeafLink is culturally very relaxed and opportunities to chat, hang out, and connect with coworkers and managers in an informal capacity are plentiful.

Cons

The problem is that with this casual, informal environment, some internal processes are neglected and there is not a lot of long-term thought given to career and employee growth. Employees are instead treated as expendable, with little investment given from the company to employees to perform their jobs and further their skills. Laptops, devices, are not given to employees and you are expected to use your own. The Engineering team is understaffed/underpaid and therefore burnout is rampant, employee churn rate is remarkably high, and any moment spent away from one's desk is frowned upon. Employee performance is not tracked in any measurable way by managers, so the path to internal promotion is a combination of nepotism, brown-nosing, and luck. It is frequent that employees are singled-out in Slack channels for any failures or deadlines not being met, and toxic gossiping runs thick in the DNA of LeafLink. Inexperienced Management means that very little concern is given to working conditions, and everyone is expected to "hustle" and "GSD" at a salary that often falls under the 50th percentile. LeafLink's upper management will continue to base decision making on extreme cost-cutting practices, while at the same time rewarding manager behavior that does not create value for the company (poor project planning, non-stop travel, and repetitive mistakes). 1 on 1 meetings with (the already inexperienced) managers are infrequent, about once a month, meaning requests and changes do not travel upwards very fast. The feedback then given by managers is often either personal (i.e. irrelevant), not actionable, or un-based (due to the aforementioned lack of performance tracking frameworks). I would not recommend working for LeafLink if you are anything lower than middle management.

Pros

Look, it's a job and the industry is cool. If you work in one of the "Tech" roles, you'll get paid pretty well and you get to work on a booming platform.

Cons

Every company has good parts and bad parts and most of the time it depends on who runs your department. In this case, the problems are not addressed and are swept under the rug, or they wait until the employee that complained quits (or they let them go for "other reasons"). Your employees want to stay at their job! They want to enjoy it! But you're making it really hard. The pandemic has changed the way we work, yet we still have no real plan for how to move forward. People aren't sure if they're working remotely forever or if they're going to come back 5 days a week. And the only reason we don't have a formal policy yet is because the People Team knows the moment they release it, there will be a mass exodus and they're not ready for this type of turnover. And SPEAKING OF THE PEOPLE TEAM, nearly the entire team is less than 6 months old and is somehow making company-wide decisions. Would you want the fate of your work-wellness in the hands of a whole team younger than the pandemic itself? This is not a warning to not work at the company. If you're a prospective hire, you'll probably have a great time with onboarding and our benefits. But there are a fleet of employees that have been here for YEARS and they're pissed off. People Team, if you're reading this (and I know you are, because you asked us to write positive reviews to push ones like these down), your turnover won't get any better unless you start actually talking to employees instead of each other. There are a handful of "committees" and "focus groups" and "task forces", yet the only progress I've seen is from the LAST people team when they managed to get better healthcare for us (which, I'm counting my days until that goes away too). It's all talk, no action, and it's the reason why people are leaving. LeafLink is successful because a lot of reps have great relationships with our clients and a lot of clients love the platform. The company is PACKED with talent that is underpaid while doing 5 different jobs. The only team that gets the proper credit is Engineering, and the rest of us are left to sell, market, and operate a company that doesn't give anything back.

Pros

A chance to join an exciting and growing industry.

Cons

Senior management is the biggest con to working here. Their style of leadership and questionable decision making is the reason turnover is so high lately. The company is bleeding talent with people leaving every week, but just like everything else that’s swept under the rug, management hasn’t said or done anything about it. Look for former employees on LinkedIn before joining and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Team morale is low, and the lack of any swim lanes or processes mean you will do 5 different jobs while being paid for 1. People have set their slack status to “attempting to take vacation” and some teams are expected to work on company wide holidays or summer Fridays. The name of the game here is hustle at all costs, but don’t expect to be compensated for all the work you’ll do outside of your job description. No emphasis on culture or employee happiness. Absentee leadership in certain departments. Talent is fleeing this company. The company made a big deal about improving diversity, but this is not a diverse environment. If you aren’t a “bro” you won’t get a seat at the table.
