Pros

Generally good people that work there.

Cons

My department had conflicts of interest that resulted in unfair labor distribution and benefits.

Pros

MITRE has an incredible team and a culture that genuinely values innovation and learning. You have the chance to work on a wide variety of projects so no few months feel the same. There’s a lot of room to experiment, take initiative, and learn new technologies on the job. The people here are supportive, knowledgeable, and always willing to collaborate, which makes it easy to grow professionally and expand your skill set.

Cons

A downside is the project-based funding structure. Once the funding for your current project ends, you often need to actively search for your next assignment. This can feel like a “job hunt within your job,” which adds some uncertainty and can be frustrating if you prefer more stable, long-term assignments.

Pros

Relaxed WLB, solid pay and benefits, consulting model so easy to switch across projects when government work is plentiful, etc.

Cons

Not top salary in tech, consulting model can also make it difficult to get good DevOps experience continuously developing and pushing code.
