Pros
Good pay in a low cost of living area, flexible hours (can come in anytime before 10am and must hit 40hrs), casual work environment, talented co workers
Cons
Some, but not all, areas of IT use outdated tech stacks Not a con for everybody, but keep in mind that there are few coding jobs in a 45min radius around Eau Claire so many who leave their job at Menards are forced to move or work remote The health insurance is expensive, no sick pay, no 401k matching We used to have two bonuses that were calculated every time they were distributed. But they were cut and replaced with a one time raise which doesn't account for inflation. Developers/engineers in my department aren't involved in the agile ceremonies (sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, etc.), other than giving a weekly update and occasional estimates. Doesn't bother me cause it means more time coding, but not good for career growth. Not sure if this is the case for other departments. We have work from home capabilities, but you can only use them for late night maintenance and on call incidents. You can't use them if you're semi-sick, or if there's a snowstorm, or etc.
