Pros

Retirement benefits in AZ State Retirement Plan.

Cons

No work from home, no flexible schedules, management is very old school and is terrible about communicating, has zero empathy or compassion for their employees. The organization does not support equality, diversity or inclusion. You better like the Mormon culture, religion, and ways and you most likely will have to hear and put up with racist comments from management.

Pros

Nice co-workers and secure job. 4 day work week. The City Manager is nice - Chris Brady and so is Keri Kent.

Cons

Poor management practices including a 4 time of year PAF review that is a total waste of time. HR witch hunts, poorly trained supervisors and managers who are barley competent and honestly lack leadership skills. I had worked here for over 8 years and only had 2 great managers and only 1 of them had real leadership skills that they learned outside the City. Fake standards that the executives don't even practice. There is a lot of stuff going on in different departments that employees are scared to say in fear of retaliation. Inappropriate supervisor and manager behavior that if investigated would shock. I have learned to fight back but choose my battles carefully. Before I left I saw 2 people targeted and fired in HR witch hunts. I have a huge list of cons and that's why I left. This place is only a stepping stone.

Pros

Great if you are Mormon or if you are in with favoritism, nepotism, and cronyism. Benefits and policies do not extend to all. But if you receive the full benefits, such as 4x10 and flexible schedule, permitted overtime to complete heavy workloads, and tuition reimbursement (etc...), then it might be a good place to work. A few supervisors and fellow city employees are most excellent but that is not enough to tolerate the worst of the worst supervisors and employees.

Cons

Favoritism, nepotism, and cronyism. Rampant corruption, unethical, discriminatory practice and some of these employees should be sitting in prison for the things that they do. If you are working under one of the many tyranny supervisors then your life will be a living hell. If you complain, you absolutely will be retaliated against. Employees are prohibited from organizing a union and do not have anyone to advocate for them.
