Growing young company plagued by haphazard corporate management
Pros
Metrea is a good place to work if you’re looking for stable pay and an avenue to contribute towards America’s national defense. They are constantly acquiring new companies and fleshing out their foothold in multiple domains. Depending on where you are in the business, it can be a really exciting place to work and contribute.
Cons
- Very poor communication, support, and management provided to Business Units (where most employees work). Metrea’s model is to purchase a business, stand up as a Metrea business unit, and manage/fund/direct it through its corporate faction. This sounds all well and good, but is often a disastrous waste of everyone’s time and money due to poor management and direction from the higher levels of Metrea. If you join Metrea, expect to scrap and crawl for the slightest hint of funding and direction. Whoever manages your Business Unit may have zero experience in your industry. - A self serving culture. Metrea’s corporate faction is full of ex-military trying to play favor with the CEO, which has led to a room of yes-men masking issues below. Expect corporate to rarely interact to business units as they are busy fooling the CEO that there are not fires everywhere. - Understaffed HR and IT. While the company is young and growing, their HR and IT are constantly under water. Expect to not get your PTO balance or an IT ticket serviced for months.
