Pros

The relationships that you can build with other facilities and some coworkers is invaluable. The medical benefits package is pretty good.

Cons

It is very sad to see the favoritism that is present throughout the organization in the clinics and management. I believe the Motto "The workers will always work and the slackers will always slack" is more and more prominent. There is NO accountability and if you try to speak up about it, you become the trouble maker. They say that Retaliation is against HR policy but then Retaliation becomes the EXACT punishment when you try to speak up when treated unfairly. Managers allow unacceptable behavior to go on daily and again, to speak up about it means you are the trouble maker. This all is just the tip of the Iceberg. It TRULY saddens me to be at this place of employment for almost 20 years and now have to look for another job outside of the institution because of the corruption that has flooded the institution and NO ONE is willing to make the necessary changes to fix it.

Pros

Benefits start almost right away. The only good thing about Moffitt is their mission to find a cure for cancer.

Cons

From lack of honesty to backstabbing coworkers, that should be the motto for some of the teams there. I'm truly sad that I had to experience what the real Moffitt is like but I'm definitely glad that at least I got to see it early enough. I love the mission of the company, but having to deal with two-faced coworkers, smiling at you while holding a knife behind their back, is definitey not worth it. Extremely hostile environment, and let's not mention trainining, if it can even be called that. They expect you to hit the ground running. Also, try to never get injured, because then and only then, you will actually get to see the true colors of the people around you. They care so much about their image and the workers just come last. It's not a wonder why you see everyone with a mean look in their faces all the time. If you are truly looking for a way of impacting the life of a cancer patient, then I suggest you look other ways to do that. The disrespect and lack of care from HR and everyone in your department, will deter anyone that loves coming to work just to help others. Sad to see that what I thought to be a great company is nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Pros

It used to be a great place to work, with every employee happy to be there and contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer. That was in mid 2000.

Cons

"More with less" is the mantra. If you press your boss for that promotion they promised after years of "exceeds expectations" and making them look good (by taking all credit for your work), then you suddenly get re-assigned, re-evaluated (as a poor performer), and shown the door. Going to HR is a joke, because all they do is inform your manager you have a problem with them. Going to Sr. Mgmt is a joke, because they are all poorly trained in how to effectively manage people. This happens in every department in all of Moffitt. Anything that looks like a nail is quickly hammered down. I hope Alan List is able to change this systemic mentality. For an institution dedicated to curing cancer... they certainly allow malignant people to persist as managers. If you need a job, fine. If you want a career, look elsewhere.
