New Upper Management: No Innovative Changes

Pros

Great name to put on your resume. If you’re not a manager: you will have plenty of job duties and an expanded skillset to add as bullet points to help you get a better job elsewhere.

Cons

Favoritism runs rampant here. Shift from a hierarchical org. to a matrix structure and yet there’s an unspoken chain of command firmly in place. Completely inaccessible and clueless CEO. VP’s that spend endless time rehearsing speeches about innovation, promoting change, building the brand, and customer centricity, and providing transparency. Lots of new buzz words and very few deliverables or ROI to back it up. Lots of talking about wanting feedback....and yet any employees that dare to step out of line and speak to anyone but the manager they report to will be harshly reprimanded. Most of the upper management here spends a majority of their time and efforts making sure to get face time with parent company and “sell” how important and vital they are to the company’s success.

Horrible Environment

Pros

Headquarters is centrally located in a new building.

Cons

Horrible work environment. Management specializes in favoritism. The work environment is hostile and no one should be trusted. They treat people that are not apart of their specific circle like work horses or mules. Meetings are unproductive and mainly about degrading people. HR is all about protecting management and not about employees. If one has a problem with management there is no one to turn to; especially not HR. If you want to work at a place that treats hard workers like trash than Morton Salt is the place to work.

Not a Company You Want to Join

Pros

Good location downtown. Laid back office / jeans / casual dress. Good food in cafeteria. Free snacks.

Cons

Management paints rosy picture yet things get worse and worst by the week. Most employees are frustrated and looking for jobs. Shaping 2030 is a fancy word for job cuts - many rumors about jobs that will be cut and moved to corporate office in Germany. Hiring freeze prevents people needed to do work - so the rest of us have more to do. Most are overworked and underappreciated. Plants cannot meet supply chain demand numbers so we rarely meet sales goals. Customers are all mad. Every day is a battle.
