Pros

you'll meet amazing people. you'll get to work on some real life issues millions of users experience. hopefully you can buy in to the ND value to be kind and grow local community.

Cons

(1) CEO's delivery of Return to Office, the policy I agree with, was so awful, I never want to work in the same company with Sarah. Dismissive, disrespectful, and more importantly it highlights how she has been and will be acting as a board member INSTEAD of acting like a CEO, or at least an inspirational person. (2) The senior (prod Dev) leadership cannot articulate the direction of the product. Pretty common for a bigger company, but ND is only 350 people in prod Dev. Cherry on top: years ago, when mentioned that I work at ND I got " what is Nextdoor"... Awkward. Nowadays, I get "just uninstalled that app"... Embarrassing. I'll be out very soon.

Hi there neighbor, Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Earning trust is a core value at Nextdoor, and the most important part of what we do is building that trust with our employees and neighbors. We aim to facilitate open, inclusive discussions on sensitive topics as a company and we want to ensure that you have a safe space to freely express your opinion and engage with our people leaders and leadership team. By addressing hard topics in the open, we’re continuing to build a culture based on trust and transparency. If you’re open and comfortable bringing your concerns to your manager, People Business Partner, or a member of the People Team, we are here to listen and would be more than happy to go into more detail with you.

Pros

- Middle managers and colleagues are nice and smart. - Broad ownership if you want it. - Comp is good for the current market (although equity is shaky)

Cons

- Completely lied about return to work when interviewing employees earlier in the year. Many people joined with the understanding that they'd be fully remote, only to learn that they'd need to come in. Not only that, but the company is sticking parking and commute costs on the employee (thousands a year). Ironic given leadership usually gets paid rides to/from the city... - CEO is unkind and borderline vile in Q&A. I've never seen behavior like this from the leader of a public company. - Culture of anonymity due to fears of retaliation. Really sad to hear how afraid people are to speak up here.

Pros

You meet other great people and get to commiserate with them about how horrible this place is Lunch on Wednesdays Decent health insurance options You can use RSUs as a tax break since the value just keeps going down, never up You find people to do interview preparation with since everyone is looking for a new job

Cons

Horrible work-life balance - expect to work weekends, evenings, and whenever a PM gets distracted by something shiny Experiments are not to learn; they’re for PMs to manipulate data to put into a weekly shareout pretending the team is having huge wins but never actually solving customer needs/wants Middle management has no idea what they’re doing and you end up getting assigned useless work that goes nowhere on a “hunch” RTO mandate to 3 days/week with no lunch except on Wednesdays. There were 2 shootings a couple of blocks from our office last week alone and there’s been no discussion of keeping employees safe. Whenever you tell someone you work here, they inevitably tell you how much they hate the product, especially the spamming we do with notifications. It’s embarrassing
