Pros

Good pay, benefits, and co-workers

Cons

Working under the constant fear that if you make any mistake you will lose your job. Those mistakes can range from anything obvious to anything upper management wants to define as an error in order to punish a non-favorite employee. Promotions for undeserving individuals who get to move up in the corporate ladder every few months, only because they are favorites of upper management, not because they are capable of performing in the new role or even in their current role. Many of those individuals will trample on those under them in order to advance their own career. Department is constantly under staffed because of such a high turn over rate combined with how long of a training process new hires must undergo.

Pros

Distribution System Operations is a good place to be. If things need to change they can change. There are people willing to support. Turning the lights back on is satisfying. There is an honest focus on making sure customers are back as soon and safely as possible. Pay is good. They have a nice setup with DMS doing some of the switching for us. Bonus & get paid overtime.

Cons

THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH SYSTEM OPERATORS. They are not hiring fast enough to replace the people leaving. Change seems to take a long time. Business model seems to be heavily dependent on getting paid for capital improvement projects. This does not seem sustainable. Some of the supervisors are making it hard for some folks to stay. Doing admin for all of the things we do can get old. Overtime is 1.0x not 1.5x.

Pros

Work facility newly constructed. Small employee group allowed for easy access to facility parking. Generally positive attitudes amongst peer group.

Cons

Shift work and no lunch break. Overtime could be necessitated without prior planning due to situational occurrences. Continuously evolving program base for system management and control
