      Instability Prevails

      Pros

      Work hours are good and time off is easy to get when needed. Employees are very nice to work with and work hard for very low pay. Benefits are adequate.

      Cons

      Extremely poor leadership from top management and little to no communication comes from the top. We have had 6 CEO's in 6 years and they just fired the 3rd top HR person we had in a little over a year with no explanation which is very disheartening. Company is owned by foreign country who seems clueless as to how poorly run the company is. Quality and safety issues are a disaster, every day there are major production and design errors due to poor leadership, odd for a company that has been doing the same thing for 75 years. Engineers are amongst the lowest paid in the industry. Most of us are looking for new jobs or have already left. Employees have no faith that the company can ever be successful as they continue to make the same mistakes year after year. It has become embarrassing to say that I work for this company both in the aerospace engineering and local communities.

      Amateur'ish Management

      Pros

      The small nature of Piper provides direct hands on exposure to the product and manufacturing process. There are still some good people at the working level.

      Cons

      It is clear that the current ownership (sultan of Brunei) and current senior management are in way over their heads. Company's future is tenuous at best. Canceling the jet development program and laying off 150 within a couple of weeks of hiring aggressively and touting it as the future of the company has shown that they have no credibility. The remaining engineers are leaving in droves. That is why they have job openings; to backfill the spots that are now open because people who are exposed to the day-to-day reality are fleeing as soon as they develop an alternative.

      HORRIBLE COMPANY AND WORK CONDITIONS

      Pros

      It is near a beach.

      Cons

      Salary sucks, and direct employees and contract employees are treated horribly. Very unprofessional. Lots of swearing in the offices. Young, inexperienced employees have been given junior and mid-management positions, and their inexperience shows, but not their fault. All of the good, experienced employees leave for considerable increases in salaries at other aircraft companies. The remaining few experienced employees could not survive at the other aircraft companies. Typical, small good ole boy company and the ones in charge protect each other at the employee's expense.
