Podium Used to Be Amazing

Pros

Podium had some of the most talented people I have ever worked with. The culture was great before the layoffs. The on-site daycare is amazing, and the employee discount is really helpful. Things move so fast that you are definitely going to have opportunities to learn on the job and get promoted into something new in a relatively short timeframe.

Cons

Two layoffs in less than 12 months (12% cut in December 2022, 23% cut in August 2023). Executive leadership is extremely short-sighted and will announce major strategy shifts and then abandon those positions within a few months. The 401k match went away in 2022, alongside a number of other in-office benefits. Eric announced a return-to-office plan which arbitrarily mandated that every employee within 50 miles of the Lehi headquarters must be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Mondays and Fridays may be worked remotely (this was held up as an example of flexibility). None of this was based on employee feedback - surveys are largely ignored and one exec actually complained when asked to meet with team members in his department. This company is still reeling from some major changes it made in 2022, and while the leaders will tell you how things are improving, the numbers tell a different story.

Sinking Ship

Pros

I've had the pleasure of working with some of the most dynamic, intelligent, and badass individual contributors in my career so far.

Cons

Working at Podium has been a rollercoaster of uncertainty orchestrated by a leadership team lacking direction, competence, and basic empathy. The CEO's erratic decisions resemble a ship captained by someone blindfolded, resulting in a workplace culture steeped in anxiety and instability. Within the span of 10 months, the company inflicted two major layoffs on its workforce, with whispers of yet another looming. This callous disregard for employees has created an atmosphere of perpetual dread and undermined any semblance of job security. Leadership, if you can call it that, turns a blind eye to legitimate employee concerns, fostering an environment where voices are silenced and grievances fall on deaf ears. Leadership's office might as well be a black hole where feedback disappears without a trace. Not only does this company lack a coherent strategy, but its constant pivoting and product changes have left both employees and customers in a state of perpetual confusion. Moreover, their inability to capitalize on the market has been nothing short of embarrassing. While they stumble through layoffs and in-office mandates, other companies are not just catching up but surpassing them, building superior products in niche industries that will eventually eclipse anything that Podium has built. In summary, this is a sinking ship steered by a clueless captain. It's a toxic workplace where job security is a myth, employee concerns are ignored, and innovation with rigorous development has become a distant memory. Avoid at all costs unless you enjoy chaos.

Pros

Company has raised good amount of money and is spending that money on perks, new building and lots of hiring. The coworkers are nice.

Cons

Really bad culture, most of the reviews are written by HR or asked employees to post positive reviews. Try looking for number of reviews that say, "too bad that i did not join Podium long time ago". All those are fake reviews. Employees are asked to work long hours, below market salaries and no 401k. Founders think that they have already arrived in Silicon Slopes. Its a Frat house! Dont be fooled by reviews, remember they are a reviews and ratings company. Thats what they sell.
