Partners are white, managers are white. If you don’t fit in and are of colour, they will chase you out.
I was surprised to find out alol ethnic people that joined the team over 10 years were forced to leave. They have gone to have successful careers after leaving.
Expectations are different if you are are of colour. Unrealistic expectations set, as soon as you have any personal issues, or suffering burn out, you are given zero support.
Partner, managers and associate director lack basic and normal social interaction skills therefore cannot line manage effectively let alone manage casework effectively. Bullying is evident across all grades, alcoholism is also an issue within department. Turning up to work drunk is unacceptable.
Quite embarrassing really especially at associate director level and above.
Loads of obstacles placed in your way if you are not white, was denied bonus and salary increases.
White team members still got these increases despite failing exams.
During my time, quite a few people were on stress leave, I witnessed a new manager bullied out of the firm. HR are aware of these issues but brush them under the carpet to protect the partners.
The most toxic team I’ve worked in, over 6 people have left since joining and it’s due to toxic culture created at partner, associate director level and manager level.
Management are a complete embarrassment to company, not only do they cost the business a lot of money due to high staff turnover but just inhumane. The most odd/peculiar bunch of people I have met let alone worked with. Not surprised they all have nothing interesting going on outside of work.
