Your Redflag before considering a sales role

Pros

- Longtime customer base - Certain products solve real customer problems - Flexible work environment - Some people are pleasant to work with

Cons

- Mass, un-announced layoffs in US sales amidst company efforts to 'Amplify America' - Ramp time is VERY long - budget at least 12 months before receiving real commission - Quota attainment and compensation both well below industry average - No repeatable process for pipe-gen - Lack of product-market fit in the enterprise segment - Sales leadership lacks field experience outside of Redgate - No proven path for upward progression - Pronounced disconnect between decisions made in the UK HQ and the state of the US market

Great people. Weird time.

Pros

The people. The people. Even with leadership changes the past few years in my time here I felt valued as a person as well as a professional. Made lifelong relationships and had colleagues that supported me solidly. Their incentive structure and benefits package are great. No co pay for health insurance, automatic vesting for 401k, decent PTO and unlimited sick leave

Cons

Your success here is directly tied to who you report to and their feelings towards you. As well as upper managements feelings towards them. You can be put in a terrible situation if upper management shows up for a random meeting and you get chosen as the person who has to fall on the sword to save your boss. Additionally there is STILL no sales playbook or process. It’s “figure it out” and then “why didn’t you figure it out yet? This is so disappointing” Additionally base compensation is laughable for the roles and touted as “Redgate is never going to be the place you have a great comp” because UK salaries are lower than US without any of those benefits. While the new CEO is a great person the tone of the company completely shifted when Simon left. I understand their mission is to IPO but the cart was put before the horse in ways that destroyed people’s trajectory there. Stock options were not worth the time.
