Pros

Paychecks were reliably deposited every 2-weeks

Cons

Management is horrible, morale is low, turnover is high. After all of the acquisitions it was determined that Renesas needed to be more average in terms of compensation, consequently all benefits were trimmed. Accrued vacation was reduced, 401K match was lowered, medical benefit cost increased, base pay stagnated. The determination was made that more experienced, higher paid employees would be less favorable to the young, inexperienced, low-tier pay workers. While this approach may work at many companies it does not work very well for a technology company, in particular for semiconductor suppliers. The race to the bottom has been won by Renesas. When a technology company is being run by a business oriented bean-counter, there is no hope for success. With the semiconductor shortage the next couple of years will be positive on the books but the long-term outlook is quite bleak, as customers have lost all confidence in the ability of the company to execute and support their products.

Pros

The company is ambitious and has already done 3 mergers recently with other profit-making stable companies in the semiconductor industry hoping to become the market leader

Cons

1. High Ambitions have led to a lot of mismanagement and overly aggressive + toxic work culture in some teams 2. High level of politics to be seen - Incompetent mid-level management misuses subordinates for their own promotion without recognizing their juniors (leave aside rewarding either in form of pay or designation) - One may be much better off in other competitor companies in the semiconductor industry 3. After mass lay off followed by several people resigning themselves, the company has been trying to sustain with bare minimum resources post unending organizational changes hoping to improve margins, so workload per person increases many folds - which leads to further deteriorating attrition rate as good employees don't find such environment secure or sustainable

Pros

Great products. It is much easier to sell products when they are truly best-in-class. Solid management. Good execution. Not a lot of micromanagement. You know what the plan is, and you are given a lot of latitude in how you achieve your objectives.

Cons

Long hours. Very stressful. Not for you if you are a 9-to-5er. You will not get rich here with stock options.
