Pros

If you know how to navigate the complicated politics, there’s a good amount of leniency and opportunity for career growth here. They love to advance from within. They do a lot of employee morale things like themed days and office treats.

Cons

I wish I had been more self-aware in my exit interview. This place is toxic. Full of dual relationships that definitely impact the workplace, an overworked supervisor who functions mostly on smoke and mirrors and whose poor work boundaries will determine the office culture that day. Everyone is afraid of the CEO, who is incredibly rude at times. The cliques lead to very inappropriate conversations without consideration of others around, including intimate details of workers pregnancies (which is sexual harassment by the way), and jokes that create a hostile environment for others. The summer was a daily nightmare with an out of control adolescent program with some therapists who are clearly jaded. School counselors are expected to “earn their keep” with productivity hours so even though they understand a limited case load without school, you’re expected to basically run the other mental health programs when other therapists don’t want to. Which I actually didn’t mind, except when I had to prioritize it over the clients I did keep for the summer. It led to me skipping lunch and having to stay late in order to even have much of a caseload at all. Horrible communication somehow despite insane micromanaging, leading to a lot of confusion and opportunities for people to push tasks onto others. When I expressed discomfort, I experienced an increased amount of hostility and I resigned because I felt that I might experience retaliation and honestly it had severely damaged my mental health in only a few months so I decided it was not worth the abysmal salary.
