Pros

The outstanding physical environment and benefits targeted for young workers make SAS a great place to start a career. Because of this, the company attracts a highly competent and dynamic professional workforce. Employee turnover is very low and most employees end up staying at SAS for the duration of their career. However, compensation and opportunities are modest. If you want the fast track, SAS is probably not for you.

Cons

Benefits are good for young employees starting their career, but the profit sharing and retirement benefits are marginal at best. Take a good long look at the retirement package offered by SAS before you consider devoting your career to the company. There has been a significant decline in long-term benefits over the past 10 years and you can expect the trend to continue. Basically, if you don't think you can save enough for retirement on your own, don't plan to stay at SAS for your entire career.

Pros

Smart people; laid-back, academic atmosphere. Lots of great perks like a full gym, olympic pool, health and fitness programs, inexpensive great food in the cafeterias, m&m's (and lots of other free food) in the break rooms. Individual offices - cubes are only used for interns and in space emergencies (which are rare).

Cons

There is somewhat of an entitlement attitude among many employees which makes it frustrating if you're actually trying to get work done. There are a lot of political games at the division head level that are annoying to those in the trenches.
