Disappointed - It's Just a J-O-B!

Pros

Pay is above market, 401(k) is good but could be better; Christmas Holiday time-off is a great perk; benefits are average but could be improved especially the employer HSA contribution for the high deductible medical plans for 2019!

Cons

The culture is evolving thus leaving a lot of room for improvement. Long-term employees are accustomed to doing it their way and not eager to embrace new ideas. No room for growth potential in current role with current manager. Employees should have the ability to make simple decisions concerning issues and not under the thumb of a micro-manager. RESPECT goes a long way! Managers need to know there are more ways of doing things other than their own. Free thinking is not allowed! When having your ideas immediately shot down and dismissed over and over pretty soon you stop speaking up. Is this the culture and environment SPX wants?!

Pros

With regards to cooling, used to be a great landing spot for entry level career, because of the great people and variety of options for career path.

Cons

When Ankush Kumar, Cooling President, was hired he destroyed what little culture that was left. In Overland Park they have lost nearly a quarter of their staff (approx 200 employees down to 150 employees) as a direct result of people not wanting to work for him.

Pros

It's such a train wreck that there honestly is opportunity for you to do a lot on your own and gain experience that YOU seek out.

Cons

Has the stereotypical babyboomer-millenial age gap where there is almost no body between the ages of 28 and 45. The older folks are nice, but too pigeon-holed to leave and are just hanging on for retirement. Advancement within this site is dull and not attractive. Awful benefits for salaried employees. NO sick-days. Just "let your boss know."
