Pros

They care about their people. They do what's right with their customers. They have one of the best accounting packages for SMB in the world. Extremely strong in the not-for-profit sector. Very good benefits and good pay for sales.

Cons

Moving beyond accounting usually requires adding 3rd party solutions. Not the most nimble company - changes take time. Product centric vs sales centric.

Lack of Integrity and Leadership...

Pros

Sage has a good customer base in Europe and Canada. The concept of what the company does and stands for is impressive. I just wish the integrity and experience level of the leaders was actually what they project to the world.

Cons

When I started at this company I had high hopes. I quickly learned that the things you are told when you are hired are simply false. The way this company is structured and managed is a nightmare. Currently, the managers and VPs are almost manic about meeting obscene goals and unrealistic expectations. The employees get no encouragement only extreme pressure and condescending attitudes. So many of us dread walking through these doors not knowing how we are going to be berated for the day either in person or by email. The leadership seems to separate themselves from staff as if they don't need us to be successful but don't hold back when there is something to blame us for. How many products are decided on by upper management and then when they are a failure #SageLive they blame everyone who put in the hard work of creating what was asked for with lousy technology and poor marketing resources? There are a lot people looking for a way out and there will probably be a revolving door for a while unless big changes are made starting with the VPs.

Pros

Only pro to taking a job here would be the three month gaurantee for commissions and the high salary they will offer. If you're desperate and need employment, this is the place to ride the train to the bottom. Make sure you have an exit strategy quick, as you'll likely be put on performance plan immediately after.

Cons

Huge mismanagement, mistakes and disconnects from the top. Word spread fast about large layoffs of key positions where ramp up times are 8-12 months to be effective around Sage while executives spout how we are "growing". Morale hit a new low yesterday for employees that weren't walked and are still remaining. Seriously don't work here. I've regularly seen employees turn in year after year of high performance and then several of them were let go yesterday simply because they made too much. No promotion from within and a terrible bell curve review system. I personally know several Sales people who received a "Meets Expectations" after being one of the few to turn in 110% above quota numbers. Does that sound like a meets expectations to you? Our competitors give out trophies and gifts for that. If you have any talent, looks elsewhere or you'll simply be frustrated until you leave. If you don't believe me, simply ask any front line Sage colleague off the record. Hit us up on LinkedIn and do your research.
