Stop using 'hypergrowth' as an excuse to abuse your employees

Pros

Don't let Salsify trick you into joining their 'team'

Cons

-Salsify cares about how many hours you work - not if you complete your work or if its well done. They simply want employees to track every minute of their day and constantly push you track 'billable' hours at the expense of EVERYTHING ELSE (pressured to not participate in planned social events + team building exercises, being told doing so would be on our own time and not applicable to be entered as hours worked!) -Horrible people managers. Not an iota of empathy across the entire organization -Get ready to see your earnings decrease year over year as achieving wage growth that even keeps up with inflation is impossible unless you are promotes every single year. -Personally I did not receive a single increase in compensation in the almost 4 years I worked for Salsify because I was hired at the top of my 'pay band' despite performing work that was consistently praised as excellent by my peers. -Had a single, half-baked, half-assed performance review by my 5th manager in 2 years at the very end of my tenure wherein they amazingly (finally) came up with job responsibilities I hadn't been performing -Let's talk about role expectations and responsibilities; I only received a job description after 3+ years and constantly asking managers for any sort of clarity around my role and a path forward within the company starting the moment I was hired until I left the company

Pros

Hard-working and nice team members.

Cons

Massive layoffs and this is the type of company to put a target on your back if you let them know you'll be taking parental leave. A little too convenient that I was laid off shortly after sharing my pregnancy and subsequently having to go on medical leave (of only a week or so) for traumatic baby loss while my newly re-hired coworker was not. Honestly I will never forget how I was treated by the leadership at this company at such a horrible time of life. The epitome of "people last", no respect at all for your personal life.

Pros

Flexible remote work Experience selling complex Included severance package when laid off Good coworkers on the sales team Awesome Boston office

Cons

There are a few areas I’d like to review Salsify and will group them into 1) strategic direction; 2) senior leader transparency; 3) unrealistic expectations. The company cannot figure who it is - AEs are constantly being condoned for losing to a competitor that is clearly beating them on many areas is mind blowing. No empathy, no understanding and no clear objectivity. QBRs are interrogation sessions and crafted to “help you” but instead is their way of analyzing your selling skills. Real bad way to get a check pulse on talent there leadership. You really don’t know if you’re doing well until a layoff. If you make it, congrats someone at the top thinks you’re valuable. If you get laid off, you should’ve shook the CRO’s hand a bit differently during that first meeting, no joke. They put booking expectations on AEs that are laughable and expect you to hit the goal based on success in key areas, all of which the company does nothing on and then blames it on you. In all I don’t recommend this company to anyone and regret that I wasted so much of my career at this organization. 100 people laid off - all talent coming from Portugal. I couldn’t believe I heard someone was contacted about applying for an open Sales role at Salsify, not even 90 days post layoffs - incredible move.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. While we haven't gone through seven restructurings as an organization, the past 18-24+ months have been challenging for us as we react and adapt to the macroeconomic changes around us and set an organizational strategy that is realistic. This has unfortunately led to a number of changes in how we operate, the most painful of which being people-related. We appreciate your comments related to performance management and are addressing it as a People Experience team as we strive to hire and grow our talent. If you're open to discussing your feedback in greater detail, our PXBP team would be keen to learn more.
