Pros

Easy place to work. Great work-life balance. A stress-free environment at all times where no one is asked to be anything more than what they are.

Cons

Lack of firm direction; no long term concept of partnership. Ask for employee feedback and promote shared success' but unfortunately, feedback falls on deaf ears. Appears to be a small inner circle making all the decisions.

Sendero Response

[Response provided by Jeff Schar, Sendero Principal] Sendero strives to be a great place to work for all and focusing on you, our employee, remains a top priority. Growing as a company comes with challenges and we will sometimes make mistakes along the way. I am sorry to hear that you are concerned about the direction of our firm and the inability to provide feedback that can be heard and acted upon. As a member of the SLT and an active delivery leader across many of our clients, I can assure you that we are committed to listening to and empowering our employees at all levels. Although senior team members at other firms may solely focus on identifying new potential clients, we rely on all our employees to tackle business development together and create the many delivery stories that will continue to strengthen our company, our clients, and our community. Thank you for your feedback and feel free to stop by anytime to discuss further. -Jeff

Pros

Sendero hires some of the best people I have met in my career - people who are intelligent, strong problem-solvers, collaborative, down to earth, and incredibly fun. Some of my best friends are people I work with at Sendero, which says a lot about the culture. The work and clients are good, and the capabilities are strong. There are a lot of people to learn from in different ways. Our clients hire and rehire us because of the strength of our people, and our commitment to quality work, and our true care for their success. The benefits and healthcare plans remain strong and well-funded despite an environment where it is becoming increasingly expensive. Pay is decent but could be a lot better given the firm's rapid growth.

Cons

The past year has brought significant negative change to the leadership of the company. It seems like all of the culture awards are creating facade of happiness, and an overconfidence in leadership that nobody is allowed to challenge without fear of negative consequence. A firm that was once led by all of its employees collectively is now led by a few key people, who are supported by internal ops and not at all by consulting. Transparency and inclusion have all but vanished, and people at all levels and tenures are feeling it. Working at Sendero is beginning to feel a bit like being a soldier in an army, and that's not aligned with our culture. It also feels like people have to be beyond perfect in order to be promoted at any level, and even the slightest slip will take numerous cycles for decision makers to move past - which is not right for a firm that calls itself a meritocracy; also, nobody is perfect. This is all a dangerously slippery slope, and definitely a movement in the wrong direction for Sendero.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review and share your perspective. We're excited about a lot of the internal dialogue/progress that is occurring around our 2017 culture survey, the related action plans, and open forums. If you have thoughts/advice that is not yet being addressed, I encourage you to please reach out to the OD team, your CA, or anyone on the SLT so we can discuss it in greater detail. We look forward to making our future great together.

Pros

- People are supportive and Sendero makes sure its people are equipped to succeed - There is appropriate structure in place to provide feedback to employees regarding strengths & weaknesses and opportunities for growth - Work-life balance is taken very seriously - Formal mentorship program in place to help you develop a roadmap to grow your career at the company - Clear expectations regarding promotions - Company always seeking to improve its benefits and talent management policies

Cons

(Speaking from the perspective of a new associate coming out of undergrad) - Recruiting is misleading - Sendero uses the broad, enticing title of "Management Consulting" to attract candidates that are told they have the opportunity to work on many different types of projects across industries and functions. Instead, they end up being placed (mostly) in low-skill IT staff-aug and Project Management roles (mismatched expectations lead to high levels of attrition at lower levels) - General ethos that Associates and Analysts are frustrated with the type of work they are doing, but a communication gap exists between management and lower-level consultants that makes - Associates can spend up to two years at a client doing the same type of work, regardless of whether its work that interests him/her or not - you have little to no say in the type of work you do - High customer/client concentration means that most consultants rotate through a couple of key accounts where Sendero is an outsourced IT solution
