Pros

Tuition Remission Relaxed and flexible at times, depending on what department you work for. Good people to work with. They have Union positions. If you are a Upper management, you receive a little more the Union employees, however your raises do not come very often.

Cons

Salaries ranging from 18,000 to 35,000 approx in an area where rent is 1600.00 for a 1 bedroom. Employees have to pay to park on campus. No room for advancement. They will spend money on the cosmetics of the University, and not on the employees.

Pros

The students at Seton Hall are some of the best in the country. Eager to learn, respectful of each other and their professors, and looking to make their marks in the world. By far seeing the students succeed is the best part of the job. The job security is a plus as is the tuition remission for family members.

Cons

SHU has a culture of hostility. I've witnessed and reported numerous instances of bullying and retaliation committed by senior colleagues targeting junior colleagues and students. I've watched the mental health of good colleagues deteriorate with no support. In the past year, there have also been multiple instances of title IX violations where at best, the individuals committing them repeatedly have had talking tos and extra training, but the students still have to take the classes taught by the perpetrators. Thus, new students are constantly at risk of encuntaring discrimination at the hands of a few bad professors who really should not be put in charge of undergraduate or graduates. There's little chance for advancement in terms of pay. Very few resources are devoted to academics to the point where employees are expected to take on added work for free rather than hire help. Every year one or two colleagues either quit or retire early and the positions are seldom replaced with full-time faculty with the administration electing to tap into adjuncts or students to fill the teaching void.

Pros

Nice campus; some very earnest students, eager to learn

Cons

The senior most faculty in the department bully everyone else; most students don’t care to be there
