Pros

SiriusXM was accommodating of remote work, though there is a growing push to RTO. I felt like I was compensated fairly for my work and that performance expectations were reasonable. Benefits were pretty good, 401(k) options were good (50% company match capped at 3%). Lots of auxiliary programs/initiatives if you're into that. Company-wide half-day Fridays are a nice perk.

Cons

Weak leadership: It felt like there was lots of talk from the higher-ups but little action, particularly in IT. Growth is declining, subscribers are leaving, and they have no idea how to fix it. Engineers are slowly working towards murky corporate-dictated objectives, and it feels like there is very little innovation or vision to maintain a competitive advantage. Everything is a big, inefficient, bureaucratic hierarchy and the ones at the top are insensitive to the position of those lower on the totem pole. Detrimental DE&I: They're really heavy-handed with the DEI stuff; it came up in EVERY all-hands meeting, all employees are required to do bias training, constant seminars, etc.,. I wonder if the direction of the company might be different if less effort was spent on DEI and more was spent on running a financially profitable business. Lots of meetings: I spent 6-8 hours in meetings a week as an engineer, most of which were not particularly meaningful or productive. Mandatory time tracking: They recently implemented mandatory time tracking. Everyone must report what activity they were engaged in for every hour of the workweek, which must add up to 40 hours minimum. It's tedious, of questionable utility, and we all hate it. I witnessed a couple rounds of layoffs, and most employees feel that they were handled poorly, with little empathy or communication. I get the sense that employee morale is low.

Pros

- Health insurance - 401k - Paid time off

Cons

- This company has an employee retention problem. This is due to a lack of management's willingness to actually manage their teams & a lack of consistent high-level strategy. They shower you with restricted stock units that don't vest for 4 years, hoping the bait will be enough to keep talent - it isn't. - The corporate culture is chaotic, passive-aggressive, lacks team players & cross-functional communication. People are throwing each other under the bus. - High-level managers take their vacations, leaving their teams holding the bag & then upon returning, place blame on individual contributors who are working tirelessly to do their best work. - High-level management doesn't know how to manage. They hoard information & then look at you sideways when you say you didn't know x,y,z. How could you? They don't share ANYTHING. The entire company has allowed politics to maintain siloed teams. - This company laid off 400+ highly intelligent employees back in March, only to turn around & start hiring new people. Just the re-org alone has caused some employees to voluntarily quit. - The CFO left the company - The current CTO has a bias for hiring & continues to bring his own people from Disney+. - SiriusXM decided to announce that all employees have to start going into the office 2x a week, even if you were told when you were hired that you were remote only. Mind you, most of the people I work with aren't in the same state as me, so even if I go into the office, I'll be sitting on Zoom calls. Makes absolutely no sense & is causing even more friction.

Pros

There are some perks if you’re a serious music junky.

Cons

They’re behind the times on everything and their only hope is that baby boomers live longer than previous generations so that they keep paying monthly subscription fees. The Chief Revenue Officer, who runs marketing is an ex-finance guy who leans exclusively into a 30+ year old marketing strategy. There’s no innovation and those who do innovate are not recognized. Those who take credit for others’ work are rewarded as “strategic thinkers”.
