Pros

It is a decent starter job to get you out of the service or retail industry. It puts a LOT of things into perspective when you move on to another job. As in: "At least it's not as bad as this one place I worked..."

Cons

I believe the four 5-star reviews on the same exact day should be pretty telling. Also, going from a dignified and professional standard reply to negative reviews to childishly and unprofessionally picking apart each point, is also an admission of guilt to the truth of each point. I can absolutely confirm that the reviewer that complained of cliques is correct. Cliques tend to happen in any workplace, but the issue lies in the fact that the cliques are created and perpetuated by management and you will absolutely be targeted and treated differently by them if you are not part of their clique. I would argue that customers receive better service when the work/life balance of their sales reps are that of a quality one. 12 days of PTO (vacation and sick leave included) breed a culture of toxicity, both physically and mentally. If you do call out sick, you are often treated with resentment and doubt. The lack of trust from management to the employees is evident and will never result in effective leadership. This is not a sales company, it is an order processing center. The amount of stress that you are put under does not in any way equal the menial pay that you receive.

I appreciate you taking time review the company as a former employee. You were here for a number of years (3-4 years) so I'd certainly be open to discussing your personal experience working for us. Please call the main office line at 770-579-8927 and ask for HR.

Pros

The colleagues are kind and supportive. There are so many helpful individuals on the sales floor and within the management team. There is a good energy on the floor when the employees feel respected and confident in their abilities to follow their gut in terms of workflow.

Cons

While there are helpful individuals within management, they do not have any control of the inner workings of the company. The managers of departments have no ability to provide feedback or employee suggestions to the CEO out of fear to be belligerently insulted or fired. If you have opinions on how the company can be better, you will be targeted and talked down to. There are ever changing expectations in terms of the sales team. There are metrics that change on a weekly basis due to the CEO and if you question the changes, you will be called into a meeting about your attitude that you displayed in front of your colleagues. There will be different expectations for different people on the floor, such as one person not hitting their goal and getting talked to disrespectfully while a few others will not make a call and make it through unscathed. They advertise as flexible and understanding, but you will be treated differently if you take a day off or ask to work remotely while sick. You will be told that working remotely is for only a handful of individuals with majority of them outside of the sales department and if you want something more flexible, find a job that is. You are told that you are supported and that they are inclusive, but that is sadly no longer the case. Since the previous President left the company, there is no room for being inclusive. You will be told to make yourself small, rid yourself of your emotions in the midst of a bad mental health day, and to not use your correct pronouns or make them known. The CEO calls the company inclusive to please their partner, NASCAR, but as you can see, this is hardly true. There have been screaming matches during manager meetings with the door open, spoken plans to push out Account Managers who have experience within the company, and the CEO boasting about firing all of the employees and hiring a new group of employees that he will be able to pay less. The route that was taken by the CEO with the company’s accounts as a whole is inexcusable. Account Managers were told to give all but 125 accounts away to a fake alias. The “Ken Adams” territory held most of the companies accounts, and there is no telling whose pockets the money is going into. This lessened the sales for many of the account managers on the floor, and lost accounts that some managers had been working with for years. The disregard for their employees as a whole is disturbing, but not surprising. While my years here were great in terms of friendships and mentorship, this has morphed into a very toxic environment.

Pros

Somewhat laid back. Don’t have to dress up. Sometimes dogs in the office.

Cons

Cliques. 12 days of PTO that also count as your sick days. If you get sick and are out for 3 days, you only have 9 days you can use for your vacation that year. Management will target you if they don’t like you. They say they want you to ask questions, but then they make you feel stupid. No direction. Very little training before throwing you to the sharks. Tasks that are mandatory change weekly it seems. No clear expectations are given prior to hiring. Underpaid for a job. They bring you in cheap.

Thank you for taking time and reviewing SCW. I'd like to address a few points you mentioned and extend an opportunity to speak over the phone. We truly value hearing from both current and past employees. You are correct that SCW offers every employee just over 12 days of PTO annually. Our PTO policy is set up to ensure customers, partners and fellow employees get the level of service they’ve come to expect from us. It's also important to note however that in addition to PTO we work closely with our employees and offer company approved paid leave when appropriate. Secondly, I’d like to address the “cliques”. We strongly support our employees becoming friends and strive to make our environment inclusive. As a result, employees form a bond over lunch, during breaks and after hours. Strong friendships are something we encourage and I am sorry you didn’t find that part of our company culture enjoyable. Although I understand your opinion, I also know these internal friendships have no bearing on management’s ability to make decisions. Lastly, we agree with you…respect is earned and we wouldn’t demand it from anyone. All of our employees work hard and genuinely start every day with the best intentions. I welcome additional feedback and you’re welcome to call or email me anytime. careers@scw.com Thank you.
