Great Company to Work For

Pros

Spanco isn't one of those big, bureaucratic multinational companies with a million rules, policies, processes and procedures. They are streamlined and focused on getting the job done and taking care of customers. The senior management team seems to get along very well and they are fair to the employees. In a small company you can really make your mark and make a contribution if you want to. Overall, it is a pleasant place to work.

Cons

The downside to a small/medium size family-owned company is that you only have so much career growth potential, especially Spanco which doesn't have that many layers of management. Spanco needs a strong operations person and a clearer longterm direction from leadership.

Pros

Learned a lot and became a certified welder. The shop guys are like a family. Office employees are really nice.

Cons

Early hours for shop workers. Breaks could be longer. More sick days and vacation days from the start.

Great Company Overall

Pros

Spanco has given me a lot of opportunities I wouldn't have had elsewhere. Since management has changed, the overall work environment has become increasingly positive. They have made a lot of strides over the past year to improve wherever necessary, and it shows. There's a real sense of family among employees, and I've learned more working here than anywhere else.

Cons

Some employees are more prone to drama than others, and it's important to stay away from that negativity. Since it's a smaller organization, everyone knows each other and that can sometimes cause dramatic behavior to flare.
