Pros

I do not have any positives.

Cons

Stifel has said that people going back to work in office is “voluntary” for when employees feel comfortable. This isn’t true. There is no “voluntary” part about it. We have not been given a choice; they just tell us we need to come back to the office. In fact, management has told us that if we want to continue working from home, then Stifel isn’t the place for us. During this pandemic, management has encouraged employees to express any concerns. However, when we do so, the response is basically an argument as to why our concerns aren’t valid. Management has told employees not to talk to other employees about COVID or the testing done at Stifel. They are trying to suppress information as to not “scare employees.” Other notes: -Extreme lack of communication -1 day notice to work from home -3 days’ notice to go back into the office -Completely skipped the promotional period without a word -In no way reimbursed or alleviated parking expenses during time we must work from home -Disregard for employees’ health/safety/concerns -Kept workers in office until employees were showing symptoms and being tested for COVID-19 -Sending workers back into the office before they’re comfortable with it

Pros

Working here might be better than not having a job. There are some really thoughtful and well meaning employees here. Who are looking for new jobs.

Cons

The firm is cheap. The CEO is really out of touch. The technology is from the 1990s. There is NO hybrid work model. You'll be paid significantly less than at any other firm. The firm is run by old white male employees who are out of touch. The firm has a terrible reputation and is known by people in the industry to be shady. There is very little job training. Many employees don't know how to do their jobs because they aren't trained and dont realize how much their role contributes to their own department. The Financial Advisers can be abrasive and abusive of staff because Sr. Mgt sets the tone for the firm and has allowed them to believe this is acceptable. The firms management doesn't appear to see the value of diversity. The benefits are sub par at best. No stock purchase plan, options etc. Bare minimum on 401k match. The CEO doesn't understand the business, he just wants to talk politics and be on the TV like he's a movie star. People are often promoted because they have been there for longer instead of being qualified or innovative. The firm cant pay enough to hire outside employees with role specific expertise.

Pros

Most of Stifel's associates are hardworking and willing to put in the hours and work to ensure the job gets done. A relaxed office attire policy that was recently implemented? I'm falling short to provide any other positives at this point.

Cons

The benefits and pay are "ho-hum" at best. They're pushing 12 floors of employees back into the office full-time starting on October 1st, when we've well proven over the last year and a half we can sustain and produce results safely from home. Executive leadership has absolutely no clue what narrative they're trying to push, and every email we receive is tone deaf and confusing. Leadership has the foresight to cancel our big yearly company event due to COVID, but has no problems pushing their Operational teams back into the office during this pandemic. They also have no mask or social distancing requirements in-office, and mandate that both vaccinated and unvaccinated employees return to work. A full return to work at this point in time is reckless, ignorant, and careless. Management encourages you to contact HR with concerns surrounding a return to the office, but HR simply invalidates any concerns you have and responds with canned company rhetoric. It's very counterproductive and belittling. The company is actively trying to hush any COVID outbreaks or cases that occur inside of the office. You'll receive an email stating that somebody on your floor tested positive, but they refuse to disclose who. The floors are very large, so the little bit of information you receive is useless. They simply say you'll be notified if you had contact with that person, which is completely impossible for the company to know outside of looking at a seating chart and making proximity guesses. Morale is awful and teams are falling apart at the seams. The last 6 months have been a sinking ship. IT employees are packing up and shipping out in hoards. Some of our best and most talented employees are leaving because the company refuses to adapt to changing work environments.
