Pros

A lot of good "worker bees" and strong passion for golf and brand across the organization. The recent products are excellent and the company is starting to regain momentum in the market.

Cons

Constant turmoil, especially at the Executive level, and poor long term planning. Zero employee career planning and very poor HR. The industry is also in a clear decline. Most of the top younger talent has left the company over the past couple of years due to poor business performance and lack of long term growth opportunities.

Management and Leadership Lacking

Pros

TM makes great products that the employees can really stand behind. Flexibility with schedules.

Cons

Lack of trained leadership and management. Overall, underqualified management structure. Most people moved their way up through the ranks of TM without any formal training. This perpetuates known issues. Nepotism running rampant. You WILL be passed over for a position if someone's family member applies for the same one. Compensation is not competitive. HR will tell you it is. It's not. Speaking of HR, terrible at discretion and hardly ever around. Sexual harassment is out of control and everyone turns a blind eye. No female leadership. Culture is hyperfocused on being fun - meaning people often get away with inappropriate behavior, like drinking on the job.

In the Downward Spiral

Pros

- Employee discount for all golf brands as well as adidas and Reebok equipment and apparel. - Lots of great coworkers, outside of the executive suite and VP/Director level.

Cons

- On average, salaries pay 30-40% less than market value for roles below the Director level. - Complete absence of a strategic business plan. Company goals are never greater than 12 months and since 2013 short term "success" (sales) has lead to long term disaster. - New hires in "leadership" positions (Director level and above) are almost always someone who worked at TaylorMade previously. Executives, VPs and Directors tend to hire and promote employees who share the same, antiquated beliefs on how to operate a golf equipment business and new approaches or processes are often met with strong resistance. - Layoffs have been regular since 2014 but the vast majority of those affected have been below the Director level. Each round of cuts has not met the expected level of cost savings since the "good ol' boys" club keeps looking out for one another (which has led to more layoffs). - Upper management drives a culture of sales that continues to erode margin and the bottom line. "Sell more" is the only solution to every business problem and they have failed to recognize how the marketing approach no longer resonates with consumers.
