Get Your Year And Get Out

Pros

- High Number of Social Events - Many projects to be involved in - Will take literally anybody that is attractive, can play sports, or looked up common interview brain-teasers - Direct Colleagues were great people and worked hard with you - Open to new ideas on how to improve the technology, so long as it didn't interfere with the current project (even if the current project was the wrong move) - Justin Byrd really cares about the people at the company If this is your first job, get your year and go make an extra $10,000 somewhere else. If you have experience at the mid-senior level, I'd just make sure to follow up with your contact/potential boss on some questions on changes in culture and expectations, as maybe they are trying to hire the people to actually change the structure.

Cons

As of early 2020, Team Velocity focused on hiring fresh out of college employees living at home with no experience and required current employees to train them in addition to their current responsibilities (which were already overloaded with work). While it feels like a great beginning for someone fresh out of college, expect to start getting overloaded with responsibilities after a year or so and your name starting to get trashed at the slightest impact on performance. You will be low-balled on your salary, but if you are fresh out of college, what do you know. Unless you have some breakout performances due to working late and teaching yourself industry-based skills, you will maybe get enough of a raise to match inflation. A few big blunders in the years I worked there include: - Changing PTO Plan to unlimited with no heads up, causing accrued time to disappear - Blocking employees from taking time off and paying for their own weekend training for no reason what-so-ever - Favoritism causing people to get repeatedly promoted despite leaving a train-wreck of disasters for the areas they oversaw - Finding email chains about how bad you are at your job - Company Culture of CYA - I'm reasonably sure Exit interviews were recorded and distributed to higher ups without your knowledge (thanks, one-party consent laws), causing some things you said to HR in confidence to make their rounds. - March 2021/COVID handling - Required to be in a single room in the office (because we didn't have enough Zoom licenses) while the CEO & owner of the parent company were remote and telling us how bad COVID was going to get - Half the company being laid off or furloughed for April, the rest of the company getting their pay cut (by 30% or 50% I believe it was) and 401K contributions being paused. We were told, "Work hard for our clients so they will pay us and we can get everyone back" causing employees to work 80 hour weeks in April. Once April was over, the sentiment changed to "We made it through April with half the employees, so why should we hire them back?" The above happened after years of being told how there were 0 lay-offs during the 2008 recession and they have saved up money to make sure they wouldn't have to lay-off someone during hard times again. This was a huge eye-opener for me.

Pros

I would depict working at Team Velocity Marketing as biting into a delicious smelling pie filled with rancid garbage. At first glance, "TeamV" has a sweet smelling aroma. You are enticed by the main office's modern design with it's natural wood floors and all-glass meeting rooms; the recent upgrades to the 401K plans; really down-to-earth owner and president...ohhh and free snacks.

Cons

But upon biting in to this pie you notice the nasty garbage filling oozing with it's staffs' lack of diversity (Out of 200 staff members, I noticed 8 people of color behind desk while about 8 more are secluded in the print facility); leaders shunning workers for creativity and personal expression in exchange for robotic conformity and silence. (A "man's man" and professionals with a sense of humor are definitely encourage not to apply). You will notice the cut-throat culture where fellow co-workers are encourage to find ways to promote themselves while clipping you at the knees. You will notice the young, uncultured, sheltered staff pushing every "ism" that is adversely effecting American today. And if you must apply, I suggest using Team V as a spring board to gain as much knowledge about your field and within a year take your skills elsewhere. I only recommend this company for recent grads who know how to consume what they need and leave this pie to the trash.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review! At Team Velocity Marketing, we encourage all employees to promote their skills and to move up within our organization. We promote people based on stellar performance and teamwork rather than tenure. Successfully growing a culture like this requires setting up a system that demonstrates and recognizes contributions and performance on individual and group level. On the downside, it also requires establishing an understanding of consequences, ensuring employees take responsibility and accountability for their performance. Not everyone gets a trophy. In regards to the lack of diversity - the US workforce is undoubtedly becoming more diverse. As of 2015 minorities makeup about 36% of the labor force. Breaking it down by race and ethnicity approximately 64% in the labor force are non-Hispanic white, 16% are Hispanic, 12% are African-American, and 5% are Asian. Approximately 3% of the labor force do not identify in any of these racial or ethnic categories. Our statistics are not far from this, but we understand that there is always room for improvement. With that being said and in addition to creating a workplace inclusive of race, gender, and sexual orientation (to name a few), we seek something even simpler, approaching diversity problems with a more forthright, open tone. At Team Velocity Marketing we believe in confronting the hard realities and then doing something about it. We believe if we recruit from a diverse workforce we are better able to find the best and the brightest talent needed to compete in an increasingly competitive industry. By bringing together our different backgrounds, skills, and experiences, we are better able to breed the type of innovative and creative solutions needed to succeed. We apologize that you were unhappy with your employment and certainly wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Pros

Good company to start your career with. There are opportunities to learn and enhance your skills. Most of the people that work at the company are great to work with. However, would not recommend this company as a place to stay long term.

Cons

Processes most of the time are expected to be bent for clients and upper management. Hard work sometimes is overshadowed by another person due to management favoritism or connection. HR department just forwards your email with concerns to your supervisor rather than speaking with you about your issue of concern first. Not organized as a corporate type company. Not a company recommended to stay long term. Average salary, lower than what other companies will be willing to pay for same position.

Dear Former Employee, Goodness, we are disappointed to learn that you had such a dissatisfying experience. Team Velocity strives to create a fair, comfortable and transparent work environment that promotes collaboration, innovation, and growth. The entrepreneurial spirit that this company is built on runs at a fast clip, we are forever in motion – moving forward. At times this may result in quick-changing processes or new strategy developments, that even with the latest and greatest innovations in telework platforms cannot replace being here ‘in the moment’. We understand that our passion and pace is not for everyone. We appreciate your constructive feedback as it helps us to remember to slow down for a moment, assess and reset. Our employees are extremely important to us, without them, there is no Team Velocity. Our Leadership looks to proactively enhance our employees’ experience and success; it prides itself on transparent communications companywide, as well as acknowledging and rewarding hard work. Of specific note, we want to address your concerns about Human Resources. This company and the HR team seek to resolve all employee matters and concerns with the utmost discretion and confidentiality and remain vigilant in adherence of both a code of ethics and employment laws. It is important for employees to engage in open and professional communication among team members and when warranted, we work to foster those communications. We believe it is important for professional and personal growth. Again, we are disappointed to learn that your experience falls well short of our best intentions for our employees. We appreciate your candid feedback and are happy that you have found another opportunity that meets (and will hopefully exceed) all your expectations. We wish you much success.
