Pros

24/7 hours and days to choose from. Ability to enter an hour before shift or after without being considered late, as a PSE only.

Cons

Strict time management. Some unprofessional supervisors. Mandatory overtime that can be called last minute. Being forced out when the mail volume is low. Differential pay only applies to hours worked, not your entire shift if you fall out of the differential hours.

Pros

Usually a set schedule, with few distractions or interruptions from anyone else. Work the same hours each shift. Job is the same each day--makes it easy to mentally prepare.

Cons

OT can be called on very short notice, especially if you are a PSE.
