Pros

--- past tense used in the pros section--- Until the recent take over by Broadcom I enjoyed working in VMware greatly. I worked in a department with the most amazing leadership and team. The work was challenging and rewarding. Being allowed to bring my brain to work and putting in my best days work every day to provide the most delightful customer experience was what I enjoyed most. Rewards and compensation were fair.

Cons

--- this is what VMware by Broadcom is now and will be in future--- VMware, as it is now part of Broadcom, has completely tossed out their amazing values, and it's now governed by the bleak Broadcom values. I am not willing to sign up to those, so I will take my redundancy package and move on. If you are OK with giving up your privacy and life outside work: you will enjoy working for VMware by Broadcom. If you just want to do your job mindlessly, and if you are happy to take orders without using your brains; if you like gambling with your salary (payment via RSUs is Broadcoms preferred payment option) then VMware by Broadcom is the right employer for you. If you are looking for meaningful work, if you enjoy family life, if you are convinced that you work best in a diverse team of respectful colleagues: stay clear of VMware by Broadcom.
